Sebastian Vettel won Indian Grand Prix 12Bet update 10/31

Sebastian Vettel was delighted to win the Indian Grand Prix, but afterwards reflected on the recent deaths of two racing drivers in accidents.

IndyCar driver Dan Wheldon was killed due to a crash two weeks ago, before MotoGP star Marco Simoncelli died following an on-track incident last weekend.

"I've a little bit of mixed emotions," said Formula 1 champion Vettel after he held off McLaren's Jenson Button for victory in India.

"I'm very proud to be the first winner of the Grand Prix in India, but then on the other hand, looking back, we lost two of our mates.

"I didn't know Dan Wheldon, but he was big in motorsport. Then this year I got to know Marco Simoncelli, so our thoughts are with them at the moment."

Pole-sitter Vettel led from lights to flag to take a commanding win on Sunday.

"It was a very good race for us," he said. "I enjoyed the time in the lead.

"I had a little bit of a fight with Jenson. He was always about four seconds behind, but strangely kept closing in at the pit stops, so we need to understand that.

"All in all it was a very smooth race, the car was well balanced." - http://www.setanta.com

Sebastian Vettel vs Mark Webber F1 10/30 5:30PM GMT+8

Grumpy Webber rejects Vettel's help

Mark Webber has grumpily rejected Red Bull team-mate Sebastian Vettel's offer to let him past at the Indian Grand Prix on Sunday to help the Australian into second spot in the Formula One championship.

Webber said he did not want any favours from Vettel, who wrapped up the title this month and has strongly hinted that he would give up positions so his team-mate can complete a clean sweep for their dominant team.
"Nothing will be different. There's been a lot of talk from the team but no talk from me," Webber responded curtly, when asked whether Red Bull would change its normal strategy of team orders.
"I don't want any positions off Sebastian. For the remainder of the year, nothing will change," he said, turning to his team-mate with a shrug.
Red Bull already have the drivers' and constructors' titles and they can round off a perfect season if Webber can move up from fourth place to second overall.
But the Australian, who was at war with Vettel last year over team orders favouring the German, insisted he only wanted to win races heading into the final three events of the season.

Vitaly Petrov VS Bruno Senna India Grand Prix Race Winner 12BET tips 10/29 1:30PM(GMT8)

On 31 January 2011, Senna was announced as a test and reserve driver for the Lotus Renault GP team. On 9 February, the team confirmed that Senna would be sharing testing duties with Nick Heidfeld on the Saturday and Sunday of the four-day test at Jerez. This was to evaluate the drivers in preparation of replacing the injured Robert Kubica for the 2011 season. Heidfeld was given the race seat on 16 February 2011.On 24 July 2011, after the conclusion of the German Grand Prix, it was confirmed that Senna would make his first appearance of the 2011 season, replacing Heidfeld in the first free-practice session at the Hungarian Grand Prix.
On 22 August, Eddie Jordan reported that Senna would replace Nick Heidfeld for the remaining races of the 2011 season. On 24 August this was confirmed by Renault. He qualified seventh for his first race with the team, the Belgian Grand Prix, and finished 13th after colliding with Jaime Alguersuari at the first corner, for which Senna received a drive-through penalty. He finished ninth at the Italian Grand Prix, scoring his first Formula One points. In Singapore, the Renault cars struggled with grip on the slow street circuit, with Senna qualifying and finishing 15th, however he still finished ahead of teammate Petrov.

During the 2006 season Petrov made his debut in the GP2 Series for David Price Racing. He replaced French driver Olivier Pla, who lost his sponsorship from Direxiv in the team from the German round onwards.
In 2007 he moved to Campos Grand Prix, where he joined Giorgio Pantano. He scored five point-scoring positions from 21 races and took his first victory at Valencia on his way to finishing 13th in the standings.
Petrov finished in third position with one win at Sepang International Circuit[8] in the 2008 GP2 Asia Series season for Campos, behind champion Romain Grosjean and Sébastien Buemi.
In main series Petrov remained with the Campos team. He finished seventh in final standings, taking a win at the Valencia Street Circuit.
He finished fifth, with a win in the Sepang sprint race, in the 2008–09 GP2 Asia Series season for Campos.
He stayed with the team for 2009, now rebranded as Barwa Addax, and finished as runner-up to the dominant Nico Hülkenberg in the championship, winning twice at Istanbul Park and Valencia Street Circuit.

Alonso doesn't like to lose, not even at poker. So one can only imagine what he must do to vent his anger. But Alonso also does not mince words when it comes to describing what went wrong for Ferrari this year. "This year the biggest problem was aerodynamics," was his honest opinion. "In today's Formula One, aerodynamics is 90 per cent of the package. We weren't the best and we also had some problems in the wind tunnel where what we tried didn't quite work as we expected on the track. There was the little co-relation between the two. When we discovered that, half the year was already over but now we're looking forward."

Challenging Red Bull would be a tall ask for any team and even though Ferrari are focussing their energies on the car for 2012, Alonso doesn't quite see a revolution on the horizon. "We have a very competitive opponent and we must congratulate them but I'm happy with how things for 2012 are shaping up. I'm very optimistic but then it isn't as if the competition isn't working hard," he remarked.

Looking a bit tired -- he only arrived at midnight on Wednesday -- Alonso was still taking in the details of the Buddh International Circuit but seemed confident that the work on the simulator by Ferrari will bear fruit. "It's a new track and it will change every day. What happens on Friday will be very different from what happens on Sunday. That said, we've had some top preparation on the simulator. There's very precise information and I'm sure there will be no surprises," said Alonso, who reckons a time of 1 minute and around 26 seconds is what an average lap would time.  - http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com

Paul di Resta finds his voice for India's grand entrance into F1

Force India driver cannot stop talking about Sunday's Formula One spectacular on his team's home patch

Paul di Resta was so taciturn when he began his Formula One career this season that his eloquence here in recent days has come as a surprise.

The fireworks, crackers and hanging lanterns that illuminated New Delhi's hazy skies after he spoke were not entirely down to his presence, for they marked Diwali, the Hindu festival of lights. The reason Di Resta has been doing more talking than driving is because the Force India driver is in constant demand in the runup to this country's inaugural grand prix on Sunday.

"I'm not going to say whether it will be a hit or a miss but it will be, from what I've heard, a sell-out," he said, and with the majority of tickets – a reported 80,000 – sold that is very possible.

Di Resta was happier to talk than to drive on the chaotic streets of New Delhi. He will feel much safer in his F1 car on Friday. "I'm glad we can't drive here, not on our licences. I don't think you would know where you're going anyway.

India Grand Prix Race Winner 10/28 12Bet tips 12:30PM(GMT+8)

Despite the fate of driver's championship and constructor's title being sealed with Sebastian Vettel and his team Red Bull walking away with the honours, Sahara Force India's Paul di Resta is confident that large crowd will turn up at the inaugural Indian Grand Prix at Greater Noida on Sunday to support his team.

"We are genuinely trying to make Indian people excited about the Grand Prix and the back end that we have -- Dr Mallya, Sahara and other participants. They enjoy that and continue to keep enjoying Formula 1," di Resta said.

"We want to show Indian people what F1 is. There is a massive following in the country for cricket and if we can pick up even some of that it would be a great success," he said during the launch of Sahara Force India commemorative Kingfisher cans.

Echoing his views, di Resta's team-mate Adrian Sutil said, "I am happy to be here and happy that it is a second home-ground for the team to be part of. I have been part of it for quite some time. Probably for me its a second home ground after Germany and it is very special to be here."

Sutil and his British teammate di Resta have performed well during the second half of the season and the German dismissed the suggestion that the team will be under pressure to perform in India.

Force India has 49 points, with Sauber (40) and Toro Rosso (37) inching closer, and the team is confident to pip Renault in the constructor's championship and secure the fifth position by the end of the remaining three races.

"We will continue to maintain the progress this season and the ambitions of becoming the fifth in the constructor's championship seems realistic. We are lying sixth at the moment. Sauber and Toro Roso are good teams but we can keep the pressure," di Resta said.

The team has undertaken a simulation of the race track and was satisfied with the experience. - http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com

India Grand Prix Race Motor Sport - F1 - (Winner) 10/28

This weekend’s 2011 Formula 1 Airtel Grand Prix of India will be a step into the unknown for all the teams as the paddock visits the Asian country for the first time. However, it will be a particularly special occasion for HRT’s Narain Karthikeyan, who will become the first Indian to race in front of his home fans.

Karthikeyan, who became India’s first F1 driver back in 2005, will have the honour of taking part in his country’s inaugural Grand Prix as he enjoys a one-off return to HRT’s race line-up, taking over Vitantonio Liuzzi’s car to partner Daniel Ricciardo for the New Delhi event.
“Driving in front of the home crowd cheering on is going to be a surreal experience,” said Karthikeyan, 34. “A once in a lifetime experience and I feel extremely fortunate. There is a huge buzz around the Grand Prix already and I’m sure that it’ll be a resounding success that will motivate more youngsters towards the sport and give us the future F1 drivers."
Karthikeyan, from Chennai, made his Formula One race debut with Jordan at the 2005 Australian Grand Prix, but lost his drive at the end of that season. After stints in other formulae, including the Le Mans Series and NASCAR, he finally returned to the grid this year, contesting the first seven 2011 rounds with HRT, before standing aside for Ricciardo. - http://www.formula1.com/

F1 - India Grand Prix Race Winner 10/24 12BET update

The Grand Prix of India will be a Formula One race held at the Buddh International Circuit in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh, India. The first event is scheduled to take place on October 30, 2011 as the 17th race of the 2011 Formula One season, The new race track was officially homologated on September 1, 2011 by Charlie Whiting, and the inaugural race is now confirmed to have its debut in 2011.

Delhi has been seeing a lot of infrastructure developments for the 2010 Commonwealth Games. However, there has been no direct funding provided for an Indian Grand Prix yet.
According to experts, the benefits of a booming economy like India joining the F1 calendar are clear. Not only would the hotel and tourism industry get an immediate boost, the country's profile, too, would get a lift.
Experts are also of the view that once the Indian Grand Prix kicks off, it has the potential to generate around $170 million in revenue and employ as many as 10,000 people. The opportunity in advertising tie-ups between manufacturers and F1 cannot be overlooked either. The race was to coincide with the important Diwali holiday, when consumer spending is typically at its highest and many are travelling, so economic prospects are excellent.
In order to construct the circuit, the lands of some three hundred farmers were purchased by the state government. However, in August 2011 - three months before the inaugural race - the farmers in question expressed dissatisfaction with the project and threatened to dismantle the circuit "with force if necessary", demanding more money and stating that they felt the land should have been zoned for industrial estates to generate more employment in the area.

Casey Stoner vs Dani Pedrosa 12BET Prediction 10/23 4PM GMT+8

Dani Pedrosa took only his second pole of the 2011 MotoGP season in Malaysian Grand Prix qualifying, after a huge fight with his Honda team-mates Casey Stoner and Andrea Dovizioso.

Despite dominating practice, Pedrosa had to dig deep in qualifying - and gave himself an early headache when he fell at the final corner just 12 minutes into the session. The crash was a minor one, and he quickly rejoined.
As the likes of Dovizioso and Gresini Honda's Marco Simoncelli took turns on provisional pole, it took until 38 minutes into the hour before Pedrosa returned to the top spot he had held for so much of the weekend.

He did not stay there for long, with Dovizioso getting back ahead going into the last 13 minutes. Then Stoner - who had been a low-key fifth - vaulted to provisional pole with a time 0.061 seconds quicker than Dovizioso.
Finally going into the last runs Pedrosa put himself to the head of the field with a 2m01.462s. Stoner closed right in, but had to settle for second, 0.029s adrift, during their final showdown, with Dovizioso completing the front row.

Halimton assurance McLaren will be strong 12BET update 10/22

Lewis Hamilton believes his McLaren team will be competitive in all the remaining races of the 2011 season.

The team has been strong in recent events, with Hamilton ending Red Bull's run of pole positions in last weekend's Korean Grand Prix before finishing in second place to Sebastian Vettel.
Speaking ahead of the Indian Grand Prix, Hamilton said he sees no reason why McLaren can't fight for victory again next week.
"It's too early to say, but I think we're set to be competitive at all of the final three races," said Hamilton.
"We were quick at Singapore, Japan and Korea - and I think the pattern at the front has sort of settled down now as we reach the end of the season.
"I think we have a car that can be quick anywhere, so I'd like to think we'd be in the hunt again next weekend."
Team-mate Jenson Button, the winner of the Japanese Grand Prix less than two weeks ago, said he is targeting more victories before the end of the season. http://uk.eurosport.yahoo.com

Marc Marquez stays on Moto2 for 2012 : 12BET update 10/21

The 18-year-old has won seven races in his debut season in Moto2 and is just three points behind Stefan Bradl in the standings after his charge from 38th to third in last weekend's Australian Grand Prix.

Marquez's superb season has led to speculation about a possible move to MotoGP next year, but the Spaniard on Thursday confirmed he will compete in Moto2 again in 2012.

"I'm still very young and the option to stay in Moto2 is the best for me," he told Spanish television RTVE. "It's true there have been talks with MotoGP teams and offers from a few satellite teams, but moving up is not the most intelligent thing right now.
"The best thing is to continue for another year as it was planned and gain as much experience as possible."
The Spaniard, last year's 125cc champion, admitted he was not expecting to be so competitive so quickly.

"The target we set at the start of the season was to grow and improve in Moto2," he said. "What happens is that we have achieved a pretty high level ahead of what we expected, but the decision we can take is to stay where we are for another year, regardless of the results." - http://uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/

After a dream weekend at his home race at Phillip Island in which a ninth victory of the year sealed him the 2011 title, MotoGP World Champion Casey Stoner arrives at the Sepang International Circuit for Round 17 of the season satisfied that his first campaign with the Repsol Honda team has been a resounding success.
The Australian is set to make his 100th premier class GP start this weekend, and despite having secured his second MotoGP title with two rounds remaining will be just as hungry to continue his phenomenal form in 2011. On the podium at every round except one this year (Round 2 at Jerez), Stoner has not been off the rostrum for the last 14 races and will be out to deliver Honda their first win of the 800cc era at Sepang – a track at which the 26 year-old himself has won in the 125cc, 250cc and premier classes.- by http://www.motogp.com

12BET update : Racer Dan Wheldon tragic death

The spectacular and fatal 15-car crash at IndyCar’s last race of the season Sunday brought to a sudden, skidding halt any momentum that the IndyCar Series had created to rebuild next season.

Motorsports Sports IndyCar Racing Corporate Reporting Earnings and Losses Business Company Activities and Information
With IndyCar struggling for fans and funds, CEO Randy Bernard had hyped Sunday's finale at Las Vegas Motor Speedway all year with promotions to lure spectators and attract TV viewers. For the first 10 laps of the race, it looked like he might have succeeded. Not only were the two season leaders starting right next to each other in a bid to win the series championship, Dan Wheldon, two-time winner of the Indianapolis 500, had accepted a $5 million challenge to start dead last and win the race.

But a fiery 15-car pileup on the 11th lap changed all that. Wheldon’s car went airborne, turned over, and crashed into a fence at the border of the track.

He was killed; three other drivers were injured. The race was stopped and the season was over.

Before the crash, IndyCar was already facing several financial challenges, including a notably low level of profitability since its 1996 inception. The fan base has been eroding. TV ratings for last year’s championship were disastrous. Excluding various special adjustments, net income for the third quarter fell to $11.5 million, down from $12.3 million a year ago. - http://www.csmonitor.com/
