Dani Pedrosa big edge for Japan Grand Prix

Dani Pedrosa of Spain set the fastest time in Friday's practice session for Sunday's Japan MotoGP.
Pedrosa's fastest lap of 1 minute, 46.790 seconds around the Twin Ring Motegi circuit was five hundredths of a second better than his Repsol Honda teammate Casey Stoner of Australia. Spain's Andrea Dovizioso was third fastest.

Stoner, who won here last year, has a 44-point lead over 2010 world champion Jorge Lorenzo with four races to go. Lorenzo was fifth in Friday's practice.
Thomas Luthi of Switzerland had a fastest lap of 1:53.002 in the Moto2 category while Spain's Maverick Vinales was fastest in the 125cc practice with a time of 1:59.273.

Sunday's race was originally scheduled for April, but was postponed after the March 11 earthquake and tsunami that triggered a radiation leakage from a damaged nuclear power plant.
Several riders, including nine-time world champion Valentino Rossi, considered skipping the Japan Grand Prix because of radiation concerns after the earthquake and tsunami.

MotoGP - Japan Grand Prix Race Winner 12BET 9/30 9:10AM GMT+8

Casey Stoner took another significant step towards his second MotoGP world title after easing to a crushing victory at Sunday's Aragon Grand Prix in SpainThe Repsol Honda rider was the class act in practice and qualifying, and backed up that pace as he finished over eight seconds clear of his team-mate Dani Pedrosa to register an eighth win in 14 races this season. The Australian, whose first championship came with Ducati in 2007, now leads the riders' standings by 44 points from Yamaha's Jorge Lorenzo with four rounds remaining.
Stoner failed to make the most of his pole-position start off the line, out-dragged first by Pedrosa and then by Ben Spies as the Yamaha man took the lead into the first corner.

But Stoner was not to be denied, and overhauled Pedrosa and Spies by the end of the opening tour en route to a victory by a commanding margin. "We're pretty much back to our best," Stoner told BBC Sport. "It felt good all weekend. The bike has been fantastic and the only problem was the wind – it was changing direction and speed every lap so that was a challenge, but I just had to bring it home. It was my race to lose today and I did the job."

Kamui Kobayashi at Japan Grand Prix Race

Japanese Formula One driver Kamui Kobayashi said the progress in Japan had been remarkable in the six months since an earthquake and tsunami left 20,000 dead or missing and sparked a nuclear crisis on its Pacific coast.
The 25-year-old has scored 27 points this season heading into his home Grand Prix on Sunday week and he will be making his own gesture for those affected by the March 11 disaster by inviting a girls choir from the region to attend the race in Suzuka.
However, Kobayashi, who was out of the country at the time as he was testing the Sauber car, said the manner in which the country had recovered after such a catastrophe spoke volumes for his compatriots.
"After the news we received in March about the disaster became worse and worse, I think the way the country has recovered so far is impressive," he said in an interview posted on the team website.
"This is because Japan received a lot of help from outside and also because the Japanese are very strong people and have given each other an awful lot of help and support.
"Of course, there is still a long way to go, but the progress has been remarkable."
Kobayashi, who is in his third season at this level and could well better his haul of 32 points last term, said it was great that the race was going ahead in Japan.

Kobayashi, who has been back on several occasions since the disaster, said that the girls choir he had invited would sing the national anthem before the race.
"For the weekend of the Japanese Grand Prix I have invited a group of 60 people," he said.
"This is a girls? choir, called MJC Ensemble, from one of the disaster-affected regions, together with their parents or other family members.
"They come from Minami-Soma city in the Fukushima Prefecture and they will sing the National Anthem before the race.
"I have organised the bus trip, hotel rooms and tickets for them, so I just hope they have a nice time." - http://www.google.com

Vettel Update 12BET 9/27

Singapore analysis - Vettel stands on the brink

Red Bull’s Sebastian Vettel is now just a point away from becoming only the ninth man in Formula One history to take back-to-back drivers’ titles. He had promised he wouldn’t be sitting back and playing the numbers’ game in Singapore and, true to his word, he won in spectacular style. McLaren’s Jenson Button was the only man who could get anywhere near him, and is now the only man who could deprive Vettel of the championship - assuming he wins all five remaining rounds and the German fails to score. Further down the order, Marina Bay witnessed 61 laps of intrigue and action, which we review team by team…

Red Bull
Sebastian Vettel, P1
Mark Webber, P3

Vettel said his RB7 had fantastic pace, and it showed as he pulled away in the early stages and again after the safety-car intervention. He was, quite simply, totally dominant. Webber made another bad start, but was able to recover a lot of lost ground and to pass Alonso and end the Spaniard’s title hopes.

Vettle has take home the bacon for Singapore Grand Prix

Under a certain set of circumstances, Vettel would have wrapped up the championship on Sunday, but the German will have to wait until at least the Japanese Grand Prix to be crowned for the second time.
McLaren’s Jenson Button took second place after putting some pressure on Vettel late on, with the Briton’s result ensuring that Vettel still needs a further point to secure the title.
Mark Webber took third place in the other Red Bull, ultimately coming out on top of a race-long battle with Fernando Alonso, who finished fourth for Ferrari.
Lewis Hamilton suffered from being squeezed by Webber at the start, before clashing with Felipe Massa, but the McLaren man again showed impressive resolve and skill to take fifth position.
Force India’s two-stop strategy helped Paul di Resta to record a career-best sixth place, with Nico Rosberg seventh for Mercedes, who suffered a retirement when Michael Schumacher crashed out midway through.
Adrian Sutil was eighth in the second Force India and Ferrari’s Massa ninth after a late pass on the Sauber of Sergio Perez, who completed the points-scorers.
Vettel got away well from pole, whilst Hamilton powered off the line and challenged Webber for second. The Englishman, however, was squeezed by Webber and got bottled up, eventually ending the first lap back in eighth place. - http://www.setanta.com/

Qualifying - Vettel takes dominant pole in Singapore

Red Bull’s racers will start the Singapore race from the front row, after Sebastian Vettel set the pace throughout qualifying and Mark Webber deposed McLaren’s Lewis Hamilton in the closing stages.

The final session began with a minor territorial dispute between Hamilton and Ferrari’s Felipe Massa on their out laps, the Englishman then initially beating team mate Jenson Button and Webber for fastest time with 1m 44.809s to 1m 44.928s and 1m 45.378s, before Vettel deposed him by half a second with 1m 44.381s. Massa aborted his run.Hamilton’s chances were eroded when he was unable to make a second run due to a fuelling problem. He had to sit in the pits and watch as Webber moved to second with 1m 44.732s and Button beat his time by a fraction with 1m 44.804s. Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso only just failed to make fourth place, with 1m 44.874s.Massa did just one run for 1m 45.800s and sixth place, while Nico Rosberg on 1m 46.013s was the only other runner to get a time. Mercedes team mate Michael Schumacher got out too late, and the Force Indias of Adrian Sutil and Paul di Resta didn’t bother to venture out as their management opted to conserve tyres.Q2 was brought to a temporary halt almost immediately after Kamui Kobayashi aviated over the Turn 10 kerbs and smacked his Sauber into the outer wall. When it resumed, Vettel quickly went ahead with 1m 44.931s, half a second clear again of Button and Webber, as a right-rear puncture prevented Hamilton from completing a lap likely to have put him second. He finished eighth instead, but was comfortably ahead of the Force Indias. - byhttp://www.formula1.com/news/headlines/2011/9/12564.html

Singapore Grand Prix Race (Winner) 12BET 9/24

Vettel has been the dominate force in Formula 1 this year and with a 112-point cushion over Ferrari's Fernando Alonso, he will secure his second successive title if things go his way in Singapore on Sunday.
Should it not happen this weekend the German will have five more opportunities be crowned champion, but he insists he is not thinking about the title just getting the best possible result around the Marina Bay Circuit.
Would, could, should... so far we haven't won anything. We are in a good position but still have some way to go. We have to race and doing our normal job, try to achieve our best," Vettel told reporters in Singapore.
Winning the championship was the goal Vettel set out for himself ahead of the season and he will not jeopardise that, even if it means he has to wait a little longer to take the title. - http://www.setanta.com

Sebastian Vettel can't wait the Singapore Grand Prix Race title

Red Bull Racing's Sebastian Vettel has a 112-point lead over Ferrari's Fernando Alonso in the 2011 F1 drivers’ championship.
Sebastian Vettel says he doesn’t feel any extra pressure heading into the Singapore Grand Prix despite potentially being able to clinch the title this weekend, the German insisting he is content to wait for the championship if necessary.
The Red Bull ace’s eighth victory of the season last time out at Monza all-but assured him of retaining the drivers’ crown he won for the first time just 10 months ago in Abu Dhabi, the 24-year-old now 112 points ahead of nearest challenger Fernando Alonso with just 150 points left to play for.
Numerous permutations could see Vettel crowned Formula 1’s youngest ever double champion at the end of Sunday’s night race, but the most likely scenario to see him celebrating would be if he wins, Alonso finishes off the podium and Jenson Button and Mark Webber are third or lower.
And although this weekend represents his first of potentially six chances to wrap up the title over the remainder of the season, Vettel insists neither he nor Red Bull are approaching this race differently to any other and will just look to achieve the maximum result achievable from the weekend and then let the points tables work themselves out.

Hamilton taking all the risk

Lewis Hamilton has defended his occasionally risky driving by saying that it is the willingness to go for those risks that sets the top drivers apart from the rest of the grid.
McLaren man Hamilton, the 2008 world champion, has been criticised for his on-track conduct this year, as the campaign continues with him already having been doled out four drive-through penalties (or the equivalent post-race penalty).
The Briton has also been reprimanded twice in a season that has seen him collide with his own team-mate Jenson Button in Canada, while also having two collisions in a fiery Monaco race. However, Hamilton says he will not change his style as he feels that would take something out of his racing.

Singapore Grand Prix Race (Winner) 12BET 9/23

It may be one of the calendar's more recent additions, but the Singapore event isn’t short on fans in the Formula One ranks. Not only does it present the unique challenge of being a night race, the track itself tests everyone to their limit too. The drivers and senior team members look ahead to the Marina Bay race and discuss their prospects…

Paul Hembery, Pirelli’s motorsport director
“Singapore is a race that adds a unique and truly spectacular new dimension to the Formula One calendar. Because it is such a specific event, this makes it quite hard for teams to arrive at the best set-up and you often see some quite different solutions. Our tyres have to work equally effectively within a wide range of parameters, and this is one of the biggest challenges for us over the course of the year. A lot is made of the heat in Singapore, but what people tend to feel is actually the humidity, which means that our tyres should be comfortably within their working range when it comes to ambient and track temperature. The tyres will be working as hard as the drivers this weekend: many of the drivers say that this street circuit is even more demanding than Monaco. As we’ve seen in the past, particularly in Canada, the combination of soft and super-soft tyres provides plenty of opportunities for the teams to put in place some interesting strategies, with the super-soft in particular expected to provide an appreciable performance advantage. The free practice sessions in Singapore will be crucial, as the teams assess the effect of each of our tyres on their set-ups and overall speed.”

Singapore Grand Prix 2011 – 12BET news

This is a night race around the streets of downtown Singapore under floodlights that are not totally perfect; shadows on the track can put off the drivers. The timing means that European television viewers get to see the race in its normal early afternoon slot. As a result, many of the drivers stay on European time for the two weeks leading up to the race.

Lotus-Renault driver Bruno Senna is aiming to score points in the 2011 Singapore Grand Prix for his team following his strong results in the Italian race weekend.
The team driver added that he still needs to have technical knowledge about the R31 car. In addition, he stated that he is certainly not 100 percent perfect on the grid yet despite his positive results in the 2011 Monza race. The Brazilian took part in a race for Renault for the second time in the ongoing season at the Italian Grand Prix, where he successfully managed a ninth position for his team.
Bruno Senna
The 27-year-old driver talked about the upcoming round of the season and mentioned that Singapore will be a real test for him and he hopes he can secure points for the team over there.

Lets see how he manage the race for this Singapore Prix next week.

Get to know Dani Pedrosa at 12BET

Dani Pedrosa started riding bikes at the early age of four, when he got his first motorcycle, an Italjet 50, which had side-wheels. His first racing bike was a minibike replica of Kawasaki, which he got at the age of six and which he used to race with his friends. Pedrosa experienced real racing at the age of 9, when he entered the Spanish Minibike Championship and ended his debut season in second place, scoring his first podium finish in the second race of the season. The next year, Pedrosa entered the same championship, but health problems prevented him from improving his results and he ended that season in 3rd position.

Pedrosa made the move to 990cc MotoGP bikes in 2006, riding for Repsol Honda. Critics said that Pedrosa's tiny stature wasn't strong enough to handle a big, heavy MotoGP bike and successfully race in the premier class. Proving them wrong, he finished second in the opening round at Jerez on March 26, 2006. At his fourth ever MotoGP appearance, on May 14, 2006, during the Chinese Grand Prix race weekend held in Shanghai, he won his first MotoGP race. This win made him the exact equal 2nd youngest winner (tied with the late Norick Abe) in the Premier Class[1] behind Freddie Spencer. He won his second MotoGP race at Donington Park and became a strong candidate for the MotoGP Championship. It was a memorable victory for Dani, who shared the podium first time with Valentino Rossi in 2nd place. He also took two pole positions in the first half of the season.

Aragon Grand Prix Race (Head To Head) Casey Stoner Vs Jorge Lorenzo 9/16 4:10(GMT+8)

After a week off to recover from demanding back-to-back rounds at Indianapolis and Misano the MotoGP riders are steeling themselves for Round 14 of the 2011 campaign this weekend, the Gran Premio de Aragón which takes place at the impressive MotorLand facility in north eastern Spain.

Casey Stoner, who won last year at Aragon, may have seen his Championship lead cut down by nine points at Misano where he finished third and closest rival Jorge Lorenzo first, but the Repsol Honda rider still has a substantial 35-point advantage over the defending World Champion going into the weekend. However, Stoner knows his title lead remains under pressure with five races still to go.
Yamaha Factory Racing rider Lorenzo took great confidence from his third victory of the season last time out, and while the gap to Stoner remains significant the Spaniard remains focused; last round's win at Misano was his 38th career-GP victory.
Stopping outside each rider's team garage the riders themselves emerged to observe the spectacle, and everyone except Rossi tested out whether they had any rhythm by playing a special drum presented to them as a gift by the group.

Indian F1 Grand Prix: Merging of big motor companies

The Government of India will be levying import duty on all racing cars and other equipment expected to come in for the event.  Organizers of the show are trying their best to work around these taxes being levied..

In the run up to the race on October 30, two of the three car manufacturers in the sport-the third is Ferrari-have lined up prototype launches, racetrack drives for buyers, virtual games, racing schools and merchandise sale among others to gain traction in the second-fastest growing car market.

Mercedes is looking to connect with the younger segment, in which it is seen to trail BMW in India. The objective for Renault is more primary: establish a brand presence in India, a market it entered only in May. Ferrari, which does not have a manufacturing base here, is yet to firm up its plans around Airtel Indian Grand Prix.
In India, Mercedes is ranked number two in the luxury car segment, after BMW. Its cars are seen to appeal to senior executives and beyond, not to the well-heeled younger set, where BMW is more entrenched.
