McLaren plan February launch
McLaren have confirmed their 2012 challenger will be ready for the first winter test in early February.
Last week Ferrari announced they would be taking the cover off their new car just days ahead of the Jerez test on February 7-10.
McLaren had been expected to delay the launch of its new car until after Jerez but tougher test regulations have prompted the team to have the MP4-27 ready in time for the first test.
"The MP4-27 will break cover on Wednesday February 1 2012. Where? Well, we’re keeping the location close to our collective chests until after the new year!" a statement on the McLaren website read.
Under new rules for 2012, teams cannot test cars until they have passed the mandatory FIA crash tests and McLaren's announcement leaves Mercedes as the only team in the top four to delay their launch until the second pre-season test in Barcelona on February 21. - http://www.setanta.com
